Students interviewed by Cursor on coping with the COVID-19 situation all unanimously said that the past two years have been very difficult and challenging on many levels. For example, they have been struggling with online education, motivation, living far from their home countries, and keeping social contact. The particular situations or circumstances may differ, but we all feel lonely sometimes. Sometimes we need to connect with other people, but the circumstances are against you. You are home alone, after a long day on Campus, but don’t feel like going out again to meet people. You want to have good conversations with someone, not drink and party. You are finally done with your lectures of the day, and want to go out and meet people, but are new to Eindhoven, and don’t know where to go, or what to do.
Thus our team came up with the idea to design a mobile application. With the See/U app, we want to lower the threshold and make it easy and fun to meet people to hang out with, have a drink with or go to a party together, have meaningful conversations with, play sports with, any type of connection you might feel like you miss when feeling lonely. The idea and following prototype for a mobile application connecting TUe students was developed during a UX design Master course. After ideation and prototyping, our team is driven and inspired to continue working on this project to deal with loneliness among students.
